Urban community gardens are beginning to become more prevalent. Creation of these gardens create food security in urban areas. The EPA is encouraging the creation of urban gardens, above I have included the hyperlink to the instructions the EPA has created to insure the proper implementation of community gardens. The benefits of these gardens are vast. An urban garden can be define is one plot of land being cultivated and garden by a collective group of people who together share the benefits and the work.
Such gardens in urban areas have vast positive results. The obvious benefits include the making of healthy food in an area where it was before difficult. Creating a garden in a urban area creates opportunities for people to eat healthier by gardening themselves, which before the creation of urban community gardens was not possible. These gardens also improve neighborhoods and create and opportunity for people to interact while they work together to achieve something great. Urban community gardens foster a sense of contentedness where people can work together.
Below I have included pictures of various community urban gardens.
