Mystery of the Megaflood.

Mystery of the Megaflood.

The Mystery of the Megaflood is a  PBS film is about the glacier build up of the glacier ice after the ice age that lead to catastrophic floods clearing out tons of landmass and causing vast destruction in Washington. The Missoula Floods were the result of the cracking of huge glacier that caused so much flooding. The huge glacial mountain was holding pack tons of water but as the ice began to crack it could no longer hold back the flooding waters. When the damn cracked it flooded out a huge area of Easter Washington. This flooding caused the Scablands.
What caused the flooding was the pressure in the depths of Lake Missoula. As the pressure increased the dam made of ice the freezing point lowered below the temperature of the ice. The water then cause cracks in the dam, because the pressure was so high. Eventually these changes caused the cracks to be too large to hold back all the water. The Scablands in Washington are now completely cleared out by the destruction of of the megaflood, included are some images of of the paths made by the water.

Similar situations have been seen in Iceland as well.
